Tread the Boards is delighted to announce it’s 2020 season including:

Shakespeare Season

 

In March and April we present Macbeth directed by Jon Legg, who returns after his sensitive and
heart-breaking direction of Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me last year. Set in a dark and fantastical
orld where witches make premonitions and ghosts roam the castle halls, it is sure to bring a thrill to
our audience.

 

Running in rep will be Twelfth Night, directed by Tread the Boards Artistic Director John-Robert
Partridge. With music and jokes, join us for what is sure to be an entertaining evening. The perfect
antidote to the darkness of Macbeth.

 

Family Favourites

 

In the May half term we present a new adaptation of the Snow Queen, adapted from Hans Christian Anderson’s original fairy tale by John-Robert Partridge. Music, magic and fun are promised to help entertain the children during the holiday.

 

Later in the summer, back by popular demand, is our award winning production of Peter Pan. Follow Wendy, John and Michael as they travel to Neverland to fight pirates, play with the Lost Boys and avoid the crocodiles.

 

For Christmas, join us for a brand new pantomime – Snow White. Full of fun, mayhem and puppets this is not to be missed! And of course, there will be our usual adult panto offering for over 18s only – see what happens when the puppets are let loose with no boundaries!

 

Double the thrill

 

This year we are bringing back two of our most popular Halloween offerings. First of all in September is Hound of the Baskervilles. Join Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson as they try to solve the case of the Hound, with plenty of frights along the way.

 

In October we restage our gothic retelling of the Phantom of the Opera. When there is a phantom in the theatre, anything can happen. Neither of these productions are for the faint hearted – book at your peril!

 

Jane Austen

 

Sense and Sensibility returns to Stratford-upon-Avon, just a few miles from where Jane Austen used to write. With beautiful staging and costume, this production is sure to prove a hit with our audiences.

 

Something a little different

 

Associate Director Andrew Woolley returns in November to direct a brand new production of Black Comedy. While trying to impress an elderly millionaire, a young couple run into some trouble when the power fails. When their lights go off, the stage lighting goes up to ensure you do not miss a second of this hilarious slapstick piece of theatre.

 

Fringe Festival

 

We will be celebrating a variety of new writing in our Fringe Festival, 10 – 19 July, welcoming companies from across the country to perform in Stratford-upon-Avon, many of whom will then go on to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We will be opening for submissions soon and sharing the programme shortly after.
