Stratford-upon-Avon's Hidden Gem

After Aulis

by Rowena Cooper

18th - 21st July

Nia's found her true love, and it isn't her fiancé. Soon she's going to have to make a choice, and it's not the one you think.

After Aulis is a black (and blue) comedy, inspired by Euripides’ Iphigenia in Aulis. Like the original, this one-woman show explores the ageless moral decision: how far should you sacrifice your own life for those around you? However, this Iphigenia is no innocent victim: she’s a sarcastic, self-obsessed adulterer, and she’s running away from her fiancé, mother, and disabled brother as fast as her stilettos allow.

It’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s 'Fleabag' meets ancient Greek tragedy… via Clapham Junction. Written by Rowena Cooper and performed by Emmeline Braefield, After Aulis has been described as “addictively enjoyable” with “Phenomenal writing and acting – it made me forget that it was only one person on stage!". Adult language and themes.
